چکیده

By complex coordinate stretching and a change of ̈ariables, it is shown simply that PML is reflectionless for all frequencies and all angles. Also, Maxwell’s equations for PML media reduce to ordinary Maxwell’s equations with complex coordinate systems. Many closed-form solutions for Maxwell’s equations map to corresponding closed-form solutions in complex coordinate systems. Numerical simulations with the closed-form solutions show that metallic boxes lined with PML media are highly absorptï e. These closed-form solutions lend a better understanding to the absorptï e properties of PML media. For instance, they explain why a PML medium is absorptï e when a dielectric or metallic interface extends to the edge to a simulation region where PML media reside. More importantly, the complex coordinate stretching method can be generalized to non-Cartesian coordinate systems, pro ̈iding absorbing boundary conditions in these coordinate systems. On the indefinite Helmholtz equation: Complex stretched absorbing boundary layers, iterative analysis, and preconditioning

This paper studies and analyzes a preconditioned Krylov solver for Helmholtz problems that are formulated with absorbing boundary layers based on complex coordinate stretching. The preconditioner problem is a Helmholtz problem where not only the coordinates in the absorbing layer have an imaginary part, but also the coordinates in the interior region. This results into a preconditioner problem ...

A perfectly matched layer for fluid-solid problems: Application to ocean-acoustics simulations with solid ocean bottoms.

A time-domain Legendre spectral-element method is described for full-wave simulation of ocean acoustics models, i.e., coupled fluid-solid problems in unbounded or semi-infinite domains, taking into account shear wave propagation in the ocean bottom. The technique can accommodate range-dependent and depth-dependent wave speed and density, as well as steep ocean floor topography. For truncation o...

A method based on the meshless approach for singularly perturbed differential-difference equations with Boundary layers

In this paper, an effective procedure based on coordinate stretching and radial basis functions (RBFs) collocation method is applied to solve singularly perturbed differential-difference equations with layer behavior. It is well known that if the boundary layer is very small, for good resolution of the numerical solution at least one of the collocation points must lie in the boundary layer. In ...

Micropolar Fluid Flow Induced due to a Stretching Sheet with Heat Source/Sink and Surface Heat Flux Boundary Condition Effects

Computational and mathematical models provide an important compliment to experimental studies in the development of solar energy engineering in case of electro-conductive magnetic micropolar polymers. Inspired by further understanding the complex fluid dynamics of these processes, we examine herein the non-linear steady, hydromagnetic micropolar flow with radiation and heat source/sink effects ...

Implementation of higher-order absorbing boundary conditions for the Einstein equations

We present an implementation of absorbing boundary conditions for the Einstein equations based on the recent work of Buchman and Sarbach. In this paper, we assume that spacetime may be linearized about Minkowski space close to the outer boundary, which is taken to be a coordinate sphere. We reformulate the boundary conditions as conditions on the gauge-invariant ReggeWheeler-Zerilli scalars. Hi...
